There’s a brand new place to stay in Tempe — the Residence Inn by Marriott Tempe Downtown. And, it’s incredibly cool. Open since September 26, this beautiful new property landed in one of the best spots in town, right between the famed Mill Avenue and Sun Devil Stadium. It’s in the heart of the shopping and dining options in the Mill Avenue District, right across the street from the Transportation Center, and just steps from the ASU Tempe Campus.
Located at 510 S. Forest Avenue, this Residence Inn features 173 modern suites (with kitchens and plenty of room to spread out), meeting and reception space and, the crown jewel: a rooftop pool and fire pit area overlooking Tempe’s iconic “A” Mountain and downtown Tempe.
Locals might remember that this hotel is located where Bandersnatch Brew Pub was until 2003. Bandersnatch is gone but not forgotten as the new Residence Inn provides a tribute to the pub’s “Alice in Wonderland” theme, both with stunning artwork salvaged from the pub and meeting rooms with names reminiscent of the Mad Hatter.
Owned by the Miami based Finvarb Group, the Residence Inn by Marriott Tempe Downtown is a perfect home away from home for both business and leisure travelers. It is located near both corporate headquarters, ASU and annual events such as the Tempe Festival of the Arts, Ironman Arizona and the July 4th Tempe Town Lake Festival.
The decor is bright and breezy, with various shades of blue, yellow and green. The rooms are spacious and again, you can’t beat the location. Guests can also enjoy amenities such as complimentary airport transportation, a hot breakfast buffet, high speed Internet and even a grocery shopping service.
