Being a college student only consists of a couple things: studying, eating, more studying and did I mention eating? And to think that just a couple years ago, I thought that the freshman 15 was just a myth. As you can see, there is not much in students’ agenda, but boy do we take those two things seriously. I have been a resident of Tempe for about four years now and I pretty much have my favorite eating places on lock. There is not much thought that goes into picking a restaurant for me, as long as it tastes good and it’s cheap. Here are some of my favorite meal options that are perfect to find around campus.
Ncounter is one of the most phenomenal breakfast places that I’ve been to in Tempe. It was even named one of the “best breakfast place joints to start your day” by College Times. Ncounter is an urban restaurant located on Mill Ave. right off the light rail station. They have both indoor and outdoor seating with a full service bar making it a perfect weekend hotspot for ASU students. One thing I would recommend about this particular restaurant is to get there early because it does turn into a bit of a zoo during the morning hour, but it is totally worth the wait!
For lunch, I like to head over to a new location in the Tempe area called the Original Chop Shop Co. located on University Dr. This restaurant incorporates fresh and healthy food with a modern twist. Okay, I know what you’re thinking, a healthy joint for college students? Yes, this is exactly what I am saying. Chop Shop makes even the non-healthiest of eaters (like me) crave their healthy food and leave them wanting more. And yeah, maybe I just like it because it clears my conscious from making terrible eating choices throughout the week, but so what? No matter what your reason is for going, it is a must stop place to go on your lunch break.
Now its dinner time, the sun is setting, you’re just getting done with a long day and all you are looking for is the perfect place to kick of your night, where are you going to go? Four Peaks Brewing Company of course! Like any true college student going to Four Peaks is more than a place to get great food, it’s more like a rite of passage. It’s a time where you can gather up your friends and unwind from the stressful week and just emerge in the brewery atmosphere. With many of the traditional Four Peaks brews to choose from you are sure to start your weekend off right!
