It’s happening again. Just like that, the holiday season is here. This has always been my favorite time of the year. It just feels different. People are nicer and everyone seems to be a lot happier. Eggnog is back and so are the endless invitations to ugly sweater parties. Most of us will attend a holiday party or two in the coming weeks.
There are some great places in the Tempe area to have a festive soiree. Location, the view and space are all important when it comes to throwing a great party. Whether it’s party for work, friends or family, these venues are great when for entertaining. Here are just a few ideas.
Monti’s La Casa Vieja in Tempe is located across the street from Tempe Beach Park on the corner of Rio Salado Pkwy. and Mill Ave. This Tempe landmark was originally built in 1871 as a home to Charles Trumbull Hayden. This beloved steakhouse has been in operation for more than 50 years. They offer a variety of different rooms depending on your party size and you can determine your menu beforehand. In addition to excellent food, this restaurant displays an incredible amount of historical artifacts from the city and state’s history.
Rustler’s Rooste is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Located behind the Arizona Grand Resort near South Mountain, it offers amazing views of the valley. The Old West atmosphere is more authentic and a lot of fun. If you’re looking to have a big party with a lot of guests, this is the place for you. They can accommodate up to 1,500 guests, not including the 550 they can fit on their patio. With family-style dining, live music and the famous tin slide, a party here is always a hootin’ good time.
Another perfect place for a gathering is Stockyards Restaurant and 1889 Saloon. This historical restaurant has opened in 1947 and is reminiscent of Arizona’s ranching heritage. They have three different banquet rooms to choose from, depending on the size of your party. You’ll be able to choose three, four or five course meals and pair with an Arizona wine to compliment it. Steaks are a specialty here, but their seafood selections are also excellent.
