Bored of doing the same thing every Friday night? Mix things up and get a taste of the Old West at Fort McDowell Adventures. Fort McDowell Adventures offers a unique Western experience every Friday with their “Sign Up for Adventure” series. Fort McDowell is a local outdoor event favorite and is a great stop if you are visiting from out of town.
Mesa, Arizona’s famed “Desert Belle Cruises” came on board this season to round out over eight different adventures in total that rotate on a weekly basis with four adventures being offered on any given Friday. Take a tour of the Sonoran Desert on a two wheeled Segway. The Jeep Tour Adventure takes you on an exciting ride through the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation. If you want to get real hands on, choose the Green Zebra Tomcar tour, an exhilarating off-roading experience in a sporty vehicle that you actually get to drive!
For a night with the family, you can choose the Yavapai Experience, a guided tour of Native American Culture. Get the chance to interact with real Fort McDowell tribal members, become enchanted by the rich stories of Yavapai Native American history, take a nature walk, and have a question and answer session to expand your knowledge through this cultural journey. Or, wear your cowboy boots and ranch like the real boys do it with the Cattle Drive Adventure and drive cattle through the Sonoran Desert with the whole family.
Float down the Verde River in a “funyak,” which is what you will experience with the Kayak the Verde River Adventure. Relax and become one with nature while taking in the scenery and wildlife like wild mustangs or maybe even a bald eagle. Go horseback riding through the cactus-lined trails next to the Verde River during one of the best trail rides in the Southwest.
Each weekly adventure package includes a meal at the famous Friday Night Franks cowboy cookouts, featuring hot dogs and brats on the barbecue, cocktails and soft drinks and s’mores for dessert. Friday Night Franks is a weekly event, held every Friday evening between Labor Day and Memorial Day from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Guests can also just attend Friday Night Franks without booking an adventure. Admission is free for the whole family, the cowboy-themed food is available for purchase and there is weekly live entertainment and cowboy games like horseshoes and corn hole. You can make a reservation for Friday Night Franks at their website.
